The psoas is a major muscle that influences the stability and function of the spine, pelvis and hips. Shortness, stiffness and weakness in the psoas can lead to pain and muscle imbalances that throw off your ability to practice yoga and fully participate in recreational, work and home activities.

Join Physical Therapist and Yoga Instructor Dr. Michelle Downing for this 90-minute workshop that explores yoga-based strategies on the Yoga Wall to release tension in the psoas. This workshop is appropriate for all levels from yoga students to yoga instructors. Learn the basic anatomy of the psoas, iliacus and surrounding structures. Explore passive and active poses to reduce tension and over firing of the psoas. Learn how to use the straps on the yoga wall to lengthen or engage the psoas depending upon how your psoas is functioning. The Yoga Wall adds a new dimension to supporting your body to achieve a deeper release.
