The Art of Arm Balancing

john arm balanceSaturday, Evolution hosted our first Arm Balancing workshop, taught by John McConnell! The class was incredibly fun, challenging and enlightening. The motto of the day was face your fears, have fun, and be free to fall…and we certainly did face our fears, laugh rambunctiously, and fall down. There was even some improptu dancing, but this was in between a rigorous 2.5 hours of shoulder- opening, core-strengthening, drawing in of energy and simultaneously exploding out into no less than 7 amazing arm balances. The most important lesson? Practice your yoga push-ups! The foundation for almost every arm balance is having a strong Chaturanga, trusting in yourself, seriously opening your shoulders and keeping them firmly hugged together on your back. So grab a friend and a crash pad and start practicing-you’re sure to be invigorated!
