Anusara Moment: Three Minds
Last weekend, I took a ride in a hot air balloon. Spectacular! And as I look back on it, I actually had three flights.
On Friday evening, Bill and I watched the launch. From a meadow next to a pond, we sat mesmerized and delighted as 20 colorful balloons filled with happy people lifted off and sailed over us.
Saturday at 6 am, we climbed into the basket. Leaving the ground was as natural as taking a step. We floated above the trees and sailed over houses, barking dogs, waving people, running deer and cows, lazy streams, dense woods and open meadows.
Saturday night at 10 pm, I closed my eyes and sailed again. Floating on the screen of my mind, enjoying the experience in yet another way.
Yoga philosophy tells of three mind instruments which create experience.
The Friday night observation was manas – perceiving and gathering information about the balloons.
Saturday was ahamkara or my ego. This is my experience. MY BALLOON RIDE!
Saturday night was buddhi, the subtle mind. Buddhi is like a movie screen that reflects information. It plays back our lives.
Three flights for the price of one!
