Anusara Moment- Essence of Self

November 19th, 2009 by workingwellvt

Years ago,  I was Swanwalking early one morning on a shoreline in falling snow. Out of the greyness of water, sky and swirling flakes, appeared a swan, silently swimming. I received a powerful signal of beauty and inevitable goodness.

Saraswati, the Goddess of Art and Knowledge rides on a swan. With four arms, wearing a white sari, Saraswati sits on the white lotus of Supreme Reality.

She holds a book and holy beads of True Knowledge in two hands and plays a lute, emanating pure notes, with the two others.

Sara means “essence” and swati means “self”. We each hold within us this nectar that is Knowledge and Art.

Look for Saraswati, this week. And remember, she is the daughter of Kali, the Goddess of Destruction.

(I must tell you that swans are also quite fierce. I’ve been chased off a dock by one! No messing around with Truth and Beauty!)
