Yoga and Paddleboarding with Bill O'Connor
In this series we combine the ancient philosophy of Yoga with the traditional past time of the kings of Hawaii, stand up paddle boarding also known as SUP.
Paddle boarding is the newest rediscovery sport and it is sometimes called “yoga on the water”. Come and see the beauty of Lake Champlain in a unique way as we glide across the water.
Class starts with specific Yoga poses to strengthen and center the body. Then we move on to the docks for a dry land lesson of Paddle boarding. Then finally we move on to the water to experience the gentle yet physical practice of SUP.
Ultimately, in our final lesson we will be doing Yoga on the surf board in the water to develop skills of concentration, awareness and balance.
Please join us for this special experience.

Yoga on the Lake with Jane Jarecki Lanza
Welcome to summer and Yoga on the Lake.
- Class is held on the dock at the Community Sailing Center, down at the Waterfront. Turn R on Lake Street from Main Street (where Skinny Pancake is located) and follow Lake Street past the skateboard park, over the railroad tracks, in between the two brick buildings, to the end of the road at the Fishing Pier parking lot. Park Here. The Community Sailing Center dock is visible from here, located at the northern end of the lot in the Moran Plant. For your information, there is a port-o-let on site but not a full restroom facility. At the end of class you can access to the Sailing Center if you need a warm, dry place to change your clothes.
-
Suggestion: Wear a warm outer layer with a lighter layer underneath. Peel layers as you cultivate heat through yoga and use layers to retain heat during savasana (deep rest at the end of practice), when the body tends to cool. Bring a mat and a beach towel to rest underneath your mat in case the dock has dew on it. Yoga outdoors is exciting, invigorating, and rejuvenating on many levels.
- Cancellation due to rain: check evolutionvt.com by 6:30 am on any rainy day. We will post if class is canceled.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-8:15 am

Center of Power - 6 weeks to new core strength with Andrea O'Connor
This class is designed for anyone who wants to use the core and abdominal muscles more efficiently and effectively. This leads to overall new strength and power as well as relief from pain and improved muscle function in the back, hips or shoulders.
When I developed the "Strong on the Inside" class series and workshop, I wanted to bring together the core information that I had learned from various disciplines. This class brings clarity to core work from yoga (the bandahs), Physical Therapy, and Gyrotonic. And it feels great. Come check it out! No yoga experience necessary! Fit athletes, experienced yoginis, and those less conditioned or recovering from injury benefit from this unique work. -Andrea O'Connor
Comments from Strong on the Inside participants:
- "Extremely well-organized and sequenced, focused, and fun!"
- "The best core class I've ever taken. Pulled everything together in a succinct and easy approach. No more endless crunches that didn't seem to do anything. I felt stronger, I had less back pain and I was more confident in myself and my physical abilities. This class actually changed my life!"
