Pre-Natal
Yoga

Tues. 4-5:30 pm
Thurs. 5:45-7:15 pm
Sun. 10:05-11:30 am
Pre-natal yoga prepares a woman for childbirth physically and emotionally.
This class focuses on yoga poses which create strength, stability and
comfort in order to guide the body toward opening. We practice a blend
of flowing movements for stamina and sustained holds of poses for strength
and mental focus. This class supports women in all stages of pregnancy
and no prior yoga experience is necessary. If you are experiencing back or hip pain during pregnancy, physical therapy can help. Call Evolution PT, 864-9642 to schedule an appointment.
"In labor, I was practically transported back to the yoga studio and the many times in class when we brought our attention to sensation, reaction, and breath (thank you for helping me develop that awareness!). I could not have dreamed a more amazing birth experience, I feel truly blessed!"
-Lissa Moats, CPM, LM, Richmond, mother of Charlotte
“Prenatal yoga at Evolution taught me valuable tools that made both my pregnancy and birth easier and more meaningful. But even more importantly, it allowed me to get to know many other expectant mothers. I now have many friends with babies who I can walk and talk with about both the magical and overwhelming parts of being a new mother.”
-Susan Kuklis, Shelburne, mother of Brady
Couples Yoga for Labor and Birth, with Susan Cline Lucey
Upcoming classes: April 6, May 4, or June 1
6-8 pm, $55 per couple
In this one-time Friday night workshop, you and your partner will learn yoga, breath work, massage, and relaxation techniques for pregnancy, labor and birth. We'll cover a variety of labor support techniques and pain coping practices for the different stages of labor as well as counter-pressure tips to help with back pain during labor. Conversation will also focus on the physiology of labor, how/when to coach through a contraction, and the specific practice of non-focused awareness as a tool for labor. This workshop is a great way for you to connect as a couple in preparation for sharing the birth experience together - it's invaluable for first time parents, as well as for those second/third time parents who are not planning on taking a birth class but would like a class to connect around the baby and have a refresher on labor support techniques. Students find this workshop very helpful in the last stages of pregnancy.

Post-Natal Yoga
Sundays, 12:15-1:30 pm, Thursdays 1:15-2:30 pm
The transition into motherhood can feel challenging both emotionally and physically as the mother's body begins to realign after so many months growing a baby. Post-Natal Yoga focuses on bringing the body back to strength and alignment in a fun and nurturing environment with other mothers. We begin the class with a chance to talk about common themes such as sleep (or lack there-of), feeding baby, how to wear your baby, etc., and then move into a moderately-paced yoga class which focuses on relieving shoulder and back pain, strengthening deep abdominal and pelvic muscles, and building stamina. Feel free to bring your baby with you, as well as a baby blanket to rest the baby on. The class is appropriate
for women with babies 6 weeks to crawling.

Core Vinyasa Yoga
Sat. 10:45 am -12 pm, Tues. 7:30-8:30 pm with Danielle
Working from the core in our yoga practice makes us stronger in our bodies and more capable of handling the ups and downs of our lives. Core yoga explores how healthy abdominal muscles, from the pelvic floor up to the diaphragm, contribute to stronger standing poses, deeper twists and more ease in those challenging balancing and inversed poses. Practicing yoga poses with proper alignment and a focus on the deeper layers of the abdominals helps support a healthy back and brings more freedom to the practice. This class will teach you tools to engage core muscles throughout the practice and will help you tune into the power of your center, both literally and symbolically. This class is for you, please leave your little one behind!
Belly after Baby with Andrea Trombley, PT
Fundamentals of Finding your Core*
In this interactive educational workshop, Andrea will help you discover how to re-engage core muscles that have been lost during pregnancy. This workshop will include education regarding anatomy of the pelvic floor and core muscles, influences of postural stresses that inhibit engagement of your core, strategies to prevent common post-partum issues such as incontinence, back, pelvic and hip pain. You will learn simple exercises you can use on a daily basis and as a part of your yoga practice to return to optimal strength.
